"The Bone Collector" Opening Scene

I watched the opening scene to this movie in our media lesson. This movie stars Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, it is a 1999 thriller directed by Phillip Noyce.
The opening scene of this film starts of with a montage of pictures, front covers of a book called the "Bone Collector". The lighting and colour is very dark, this mostly due to the fact it is at night. The dark colour also kinda sets the mood.
The camera movement is very shaky, creates a sort of blurry effect. The framing consists of very tight shots in the hospital and the mineshaft. Denzel Washington is the main character in focus through out the opening scene, as soon as he is introduced he starts giving orders this tells the audience he is the main character in the film.
The editing consists of slow motion when Denzel is in the mine shaft and sees the corpse of him, as he crawls up to the dead body it shows him creeping up to da body in slow motion.
The music during the montage fades away effectively in to the sound of helicopters in the night sky and police sirens.
